NCCo official takes leadership role in U.S. counties group

from The News Journal, Wilmington, DE www.delawareonline.com

New Castle County Councilman Robert Weiner has been named to four committees of the National Association of Counties that address issues including land use and the environment. The association provides legislative, research, technical and public affairs assistance to 3,066 county governments nationwide. Weiner will lead three groups --the Conference Advisory Committee, the Land Use & Growth Managment Subcommittee and the Sustainable Leadership Team, which helps county officials become better public stewards. Weiner also will join the Watershed Management Advisory Committee. The committees form the policy-making arm of the association. Weiner, a Republican and an attorney with Fox Rothschild in Wilmington, has served on council since 1996.

"I have never been as impressed by the actions of an elected official as I have been with Councilman Bob Weiner. Whatever I ask or request, his response is immediate, even if it's something outside his jurisdiction. Bob always takes action or points me in the right direction."
