1 Limousine Drive

The Department of Land Use and the Planning Board both made a recommendation of approval for the rezoning of #1 Limousine Drive.  Ordinance 09-038 is scheduled to be considered by New Castle County Council at its next tri-annual rezoning meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2009.  The purpose of a proactive rezoning is to make the parcel consistent with the surrounding zoning and to observe the goals and objectives of the community development plan.

As explained in the Unified Development Code Section 40.26.450 “Variations from the UDC Standards, the Department of Land Use may initiate proactive rezoning of land within the overlay zone to facilitate proposed development that conforms to the Community Redevelopment Plan and/or Design Guidelines Manual

In evaluating this remnant land that is wedged between an interstate highway and a railroad line, the Department is of the opinion that rezoning a portion of the railroad right-of-way to support the continued commercial use of the remnant parcel is appropriate.

I invite any and all citizens to the public hearing to speak on the record or just to observe the proceedings. You can view How to Attend a County Council hearing to learn more about how the process works.

I refer you to the attached recommendation from the County Land Use Department professional planners and the citizen Planning Board. I have also attached ORDINANCE NO. 09 – 038 for your reference.

"Bob Weiner has done a great job in developing and constantly keeping a watchful eye over the Talley Day County Park and its dog park. I live on Wilson Road directly across the street from the park. I talk to many pet owners who just love the park. Many have told me that it's very relaxing there and they love the fact that their dogs can play together in a secure environment. When Bob walks around the park with his two dogs he stops to say hi to everyone. He certainly deserves credit for a job "well done" and I thank him for that along with so many pet owners. "
